This Weeks Activities

On Wednesday, the Carman Collegiate staff was joined by 12 Cougar captains in the presentation to students of "the twelve days of Spitzmas".  Accompanied by the incredible harp skills of Ms. Nicholson, the staff were joined by past Cougar Hockey Captains.  Spitzmas shirts were sold again this year, with the $100 in profits being donated to the Carman Cheer Board.

Faouzia O playing piano and singing

On Thursday, Carman Collegiate hosted our annual December entertainment assembly.  Students and staff both took part in showing their talents.  Again, it always amazes the talent that we have in our building.  Thank you to all who took part in this performance.

The morning started with our Student Council and several dedicated staff getting up early to make pancakes.  In the afternoon, our students travelled to Winkler to see the movie "Sing".

Volunteering at Cheerboard

Every year, Carman Collegiate students contribute a significant amount of time and energy into the Cheer Board in Carman. This year, 91 students helped at different times in the past three days, setting up tables, packing hampers, loading turkeys and ice cream into all hampers, and finally delivering the hampers to 125 families in our community.
This is the time of the year when we are most proud of our students, as they exhibit empathy and compassion, and are truly encouraged to help others.

Yearbooks are in!

For those who ordered 2015-2016 Yearbooks, they have arrived.  Yearbooks can be picked up in the office.  There are a limited number of extra books that we have and they are on sale for $50 each.  Congratulations to the yearbook committee on another great job.

Carman Collegiate Band Concert

Please join us in the Carman Collegiate Community Theatre on Wednesday, December 14 for our annual Carman Collegiate Band Concert.  Grade 7 to 10 bands will be performing starting at 7:00 pm.

Ski Day Information

The tentative ski date of December 21st has been moved to Friday, February 24, 2017.  In discussion with the hill, even with the big snow, they are still questionable on whether they will be up and running by December 21st.

Provincial Champs Again!

Congratulation to the SV Cougar Boys for capturing the MHSAA AA Boys Volleyball Championship on Saturday.  Our Cougars defeated the Steinbach Christian Flames in two games in the final.  Matthew D and Kole B were named all stars, and Rylan M was named the tournament MVP.
Similar to our JV Boys, who won their Provincial banner last week, round robin play was not great for them.  They finished in a three way tie for third, and the tie breaking rules awarded them with a third place finish.  On Saturday morning they had to face the Warren Wildcats.  After beating them in two games, they then had to go against the number 1 ranked Niverville Panthers for a berth to the finals.  After falling behind in the first game, the Cougars managed to capture game 1 - 34 - 32.  They then won game 2 in less dramatic fashion.
Congratulations to all teams at the tournament.  Steinbach Christian for their earning silver, and to Gabrielle Roy for capturing the bronze with a win over Niverville.
